About Us ...

SCFGPA was founded in 1921. Some early members served as game wardens, hence the "protective". It was originally located in Duke Island Park and moved to current location in early 1960's.

The club's by-laws establishes a Junior Club which is active in NRA and Olympic sponsored rifle sports.  Somerset Junior Rifle Club has a long tradition of champion shooters.  The junior club competes at matches around NJ, at national championships around the country, at NCAA rifle events, and at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

SCFGPA is a member of The Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs and is affiliated with the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) and the National Rifle Association.    (NRA membership for SCFGPA members is encouraged).
