The indoor shooting range will be closed all-day (8AM to 11PM) on Tuesday, August 1st for range maintenance. All other club facilities, including the club house, big bore, archery, and air range will remain open during this time.

The indoor shooting range will reopen at 8AM on Wednesday.

First Indoor NRA Registered 1800

We recently hosted our first indoor NRA registered 1800 match. We had competitors from 3 states: NJ, NY and PA, including New Jersey's top Precision Pistol shooter, Dave Lange.

Card Access System Replaced

Please note that the card access system has been replaced. When you swipe your card, the light on the reader will turn green. Push on the door to open. The door will no longer "buzz". The big bore door should be completed by Wednesday.

A majority of members have been migrated to the new system, and no further action is required.

BUT if you have an old-style swipe card (see below), you must get a replacement card at the next General Membership meeting. Below is a sample picture of the type of swipe card that will no longer work.

F&W Hunters Ed Instructors Wanted!

Accepting Club Officer Nominations

The annual club officer nomination process has started. If you are a member in good standing, and want to run for office, please contact the Nominations Committee at nominations@scfgpa.org prior to November 3, 2021.

Please be advised that nominations are slated to close during the November 3, 2021 General Meeting.

If you wish to seek a nomination for office at the November 3rd General Meeting, please do so according to the By-Laws. You will need one member in good standing to nominate you from the floor, and this must be seconded by another member in good standing. (You cannot nominate yourself, and you cannot second your own nomination.)

Club elections will take place at our December 1, 2021 General Meeting.

First - we hope that everyone and their families are safe and doing well. Hurricane Ida hit Somerset and Middlesex counties particularly hard.

Please note that Milltown Road was closed for most of Wednesday night/Thursday early morning due to flooding and disabled vehicles. At this time, the club may be inaccessible due to Bridgewater PD road closures.

We'll post more information as we know it.

General Member Meeting Rescheduled

Due to the impending storm from the remnants of Hurriance Ida, the General Membership Meeting has been rescheduled for September 8, 2021 @ 8PM.

If you are a Probationary member that was originally scheduled to be voted-in on September 1, then your vote-in date will be moved to September 8.

Emergency Tree Work by Somerset County

Please note that Somerset County is performing emergency tree work on and around the club property on Friday (8/27), Monday (8/30) and Tuesday (8/31).

During this time, the club driveway may be blocked and the property/clubhouse inaccessible. The work will be during normal business hours (9AM - 4PM).

Please plan your trips to the range accordingly.

100-Year Anniversary Party Postponed

In light of the increase of COVID cases, and many large-scale events being cancelled, the Board of Trustees (and Activities Committee) have decided to postpone our 100-year anniversary party.

New Outdoor Air Rifle/Pistol Range Open!

Construction on our new outdoor air rifle/pistol range has been completed, and the range is now open to members (and their guests).

Please visit our facilities page to learn more and see pictures. The Standard Operating Procedures for the new range are posted inside the clubhouse and at the new range. The SOPs on the website will be updated in the coming days.

Just a reminder that SCFGPA is a private club, so only members (and their guests) are allowed to use the facilities. Non-members are restricted.

2021 Membership Renewal In Progress

Our 2021 membership renewal period has begun. As of January 25th, all active members should have received a notification with their 2021 invoice. To renew your membership for this year, please access your member profile.

In light of the ongoing COVID pandemic, we've switched all members to online renewals. Please do not mail a check.

Please note, Probationary members will receive their 2021 invoice after being voted-in as a full, Regular member.

General Membership Meeting and Workday Date Changes

Please be advised that our General Membership meeting and Saturday workday dates have been moved back to their regularly scheduled dates and times.

The General Membership meetings will occur the first Wednesday of each month at 8PM. Until further notice, these meetings will be held virtually. Details will be sent via email, so ensure your email address is up-to-date.

The workday will be the Saturday immediately following the General Membership meeting and will start at 10AM.

As I'm sure you've seen, COVID restrictions in NJ are tightening again. In light of the outdoor gathering limits being reduced in the upcoming days, we are pushing up the date for our December General Membership Meeting and workday.

We will hold our General meeting on Saturday, December 5th at 9am on the Archery field. Our workday will also be held this day and begin around 10am.

If the weather is bad, an email update will be sent.

ANJRPC to Bring New Lawsuit Challenging NJ Carry Laws

ANJRPC announced today that it intends to bring a new lawsuit challenging New Jersey's unconstitutional carry laws, which prevent the average person from defending themselves with a firearm outside the home. This will be the third time ANJRPC has led the charge to overturn New Jersey's carry laws in court.

If you have recently been denied a carry permit and are interested in being part of the new case, please contact ANJRPC attorney Dan Schmutter at dschmutter@hartmanwinnicki.com.

In the Garden State, the right to bear arms has been deliberately misconstrued as limited to inside the home only. The purpose of ANJRPC's planned new lawsuit will be to require states like New Jersey to recognize that the constitutional right of responsible citizens to bear arms also includes carry outside the home for personal protection. For far too long, the lack of a decisive interpretation by the U.S. Supreme Court of the right to bear arms outside the home has been exploited by states like New Jersey, which are hostile to the Second Amendment and have done everything in their power to deny this basic civil right to their citizens. The new planned lawsuit aims to change that.

The Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs is the official NRA state affiliate in the Garden State.

New Range "Soft Opening"

We will be open only for limited hours: 9AM-12PM and 6PM-9PM

Starting on Saturday (7/18/20), the range will operate under its normal hours

COVID-19 Guidelines

The following COVID-19 guidelines must be followed by all club members and their guests while on club property. Failure to follow these guidelines could result in club members (and their guests) being asked to leave the property. Multiple failures to follow these guidelines could result in a formal inquiry by the Board of Trustees.

These guidelines are in effect until further notice.

Face coverings must be worn at all times while indoors. This includes the club house, ready room, indoor range, big bore range and shooting ports. Face coverings are required for the outdoor archery range when social distancing is not feasible. Only exceptions are when doing so would inhibit an individual's health.
Maintain CDC "social distancing" recommendations at all times.
A maximum of 7 individuals are allowed in the indoor range at the same time.
A combined maximum of 15 individuals are allowed in the main indoor facility at the same time. This includes the club house, ready room, and indoor range.
A maximum of one individual is allowed in the big bore range.
Shooting ports should be cleaned before and after each use by the member using the port. Cleaning supplies will be provided by the club.
Every other shooting port should remain empty. Signs will be posted to indicate the non-shooting ports.
Guests are not allowed, excluding immediate family members, household members and romantic partners.
For the indoor range and big bore range, a maximum of 1 hour per day of shooting is allowed if other members are waiting to use the range.
The club house kitchen will be closed and is off-limits.
Use the provided club sanitizers to clean your hands and any surfaces that have been touched.

Range Construction Update

As of this past week, construction has been allowed to resume (after it had been put on hold for several weeks by the governor) with modifications in place to meet CDC and state health guidelines.

The remaining work time-frame, under normal conditions, would only be a couple more weeks. However, with the current health-crisis guidelines, restrictions, and all construction and utilities just starting up again it is just not possible to give you an exact date of total completion.

NJ COVID-19 Restrictions

With the Governors announcement this afternoon, the SCFGPA will be shutting down today, March 21st., at 9 pm.

All club facilities, all ranges, and club property will be CLOSED to all visits, meetings, and social gatherings.

The April General meeting and Workday are also cancelled at this time. State Federation meeting may also be cancelled. We hope for a quick resolution and will open when allowed by the authorities. The E-board will continue to meet via tele-conference to maintain construction plans and business. Stay healthy and stay home.

Range Construction Update

President Rinaldi reports, "All scheduled work proposed back in September when we closed the range has been completed on time. Every step of the cleaning, de-construction, and now construction has been running smoothly and we have been successfully hitting our proposed time schedule.

As was expected back in September, any possible delays due to unexpected weather issues or construction issues are always a possibility, but as we have not met any yet we are hopeful our good luck will continue into December. Once the rangeâ€™s roof itself is replaced and the range enclosed, all weather issues are a moot point.

I will keep you posted again in January of the construction progress. I know many of you look to the website for a re-opening date. Once we have a hard date it will be posted ."

Range Construction Update

The lead remediation has been completed. All clubhouse furnishings have been cleaned and returned back inside. The clubhouse building, kitchen, and bathrooms may now be accessed by all members. The swipe card system locks are now active.

Please keep in mind that the clubhouse may be closed again either during construction hours or when the construction timeline calls for the building to remain closed.

-The indoor firing range is closed.

Archery and Big Bore remain open at this time.

Range Construction Update

Lead cleanup at the range is set to begin today. During this time, the clubhouse and indoor range are closed to all members and activities. The Archery and Big-bore remain open at this time. Please be sure to park near those facilities.

Demolition and construction are set to begin after the range has been certified clean. This schedule will affect clubhouse operating hours. We will advise the times that the club house will be open in a future communication.

Monthly workdays are still scheduled and are subject to change at this time. There may be a few mid week work days offered during the construction period. Please watch for emails.
