Somerset County Fish and Game Protective Association ("SCFGPA") was founded in 1921. We are a private club located in Bridgewater, NJ and pride ourselves in promoting conservation and the shooting sports. Some early members served as game wardens, hence the "protective" in our club's name. The club was originally located in Duke Island Park and was moved to our current location in the early 1960s.
Our facilities provide members access to an indoor shooting range, underground rifle range, outdoor archery range, and outdoor air gun range. Although many members come here just to shoot, we encourage all members to become involved with the club's various activities, groups, and leagues.
SCFGPA is a member of The Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs and is affiliated with the National Shooting Sports Foundation ("NSSF"), the Civilian Marksmanship Program ("CMP"), and the National Rifle Association ("NRA"). NRA membership for SCFGPA members is encouraged - but not required.
The club's by-laws establishes a Junior Club, which is active in NRA and Olympic sponsored rifle sports. Somerset Junior Rifle Club has a long tradition of champion shooters. The junior club competes at matches around NJ, at national championships around the country, at NCAA rifle events, and at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
SCFGPA is a private club incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in the State of New Jersey.
